Ahoi,
Meistens lifedrawings, also "live" vom Objekt abgezeichnet.
Some drawing studies I've done in the past two years or so. Most of these are life drawings, mostly from a museum I like to visit, but the following were copied from photos mainly as a means of relaxation:
- duck wings (own photos)
- manx and great shearwater (top right corner, based on photos from the Internet)
- northern fulmar beak (own photo)
- ross' gull (photo from the Internet)
- giant storm petrel (based on several photos from the Internet; not copied)
- northern fulmar skulls (bottom left corner, own photos)
Media: Mostly pencil, sometimes ball pens, coloured pencils, watercolours, brush pens on sketchbook paper.
Actually, this is from February or something, but I never got to uploading it.. So here it is.
When I first decided to draw this dinosaur, I wanted to give it a pattern inspired by birds of prey, but then noticed that this wouldn't make so much sense, given that you can't really compare the lifestyles of these two groups. Birds of prey can fly and use this for their hunting strategies. Deinonychus, obviously, couldn't (well, at least the adult ones.. There was an interesting article that I wanted to give a shot as well, but haven't had time for yet). Since it is presumed that it also wasn't that fast, I figured it would need some sort of camouflage. I found out it apparently lived in rather forestal and swampy areas, so I settled with a pattern inspired by tigers and other carnivorous mammals that can be found in similar habitats, and mixed in some Eurasian bittern.
..Does all this make any sense at all? I've got no idea.
Drawing (c) me, Cyoan.
The drawing was based on Scott Hartman's ([IMG:https://a.deviantart.net/avatars/s/c/scotthartman.png]) skeletal reconstruction of Deinonychus antirrhopus: scotthartman.deviantart.com/ar…
