Als Konter gilt ein Pokémon, das das zu konternde Pokémon sicher und ungefährdet schlagen kann, wobei Risikofaktoren wie z.B. Zusatzeffekte von Attacken oder mögliche Volltreffer im Normalfall nicht berücksichtigt werden müssen. Eine klare Regelung kann man hier nicht festlegen und es wird auch weiterhin Grenzfälle geben, aber die folgenden Richtlinien sollten zumindest ungefähr beachtet werden:

• Nachdem es den K.O. des Gegners erzielt hat, sollte das Pokémon nicht weniger als 30% seiner maximalen KP übrig haben.
• Im Falle eines sehr schwierig zu konternden Pokémon ist es auch akzeptabel, wenn die 30% unterschritten werden. Sollte jemand in diesem speziellen Fall jedoch einen besseren Konter gefunden haben, kann er diesen im Anschluss posten und es wird mit diesem Pokémon weitergespielt.
